Brings Virtual Application Services™
SoftGrid® Platform to Government Market
BOSTON, MA, June 16,
2003
Softricity announced today that it has entered into a
strategic partnership with Emergent OnLine (EOL), under which
EOL is reselling Softricity's
SoftGrid® Virtual Application Services™ (VAS) management
solution in the Mid-Atlantic region, and is adding SoftGrid to
its GSA schedule and other government procurement vehicles.
The agreement between the two companies, both Premier members
of the
Citrix Business Alliance™, will enable customers to run
their desktop and server-based environments with much greater
efficiency and at reduced operating costs -- both critical
factors for the federal government's IT departments.
"Government agencies are constantly looking for better ways to
streamline business processes and enable personnel to work as
effectively as possible," said Paul Ghostine, CEO of EOL.
"Partnering with Softricity enables us to provide these
customers an easier, more efficient way to manage IT
administration, coupled with the best tools for server
consolidation and enterprise-wide application deployment.
Although we only recently signed the agreement, we're already
receiving tremendous interest in SoftGrid from government and
commercial clients alike."
"EOL's keen understanding of government IT needs and
environments, and their success as a leading Citrix consulting
partner, make them an extremely valuable partner for
Softricity," said Harry Ruda, CEO, Softricity. "We're pleased
to be working with EOL as we begin providing SoftGrid to the
government market."
The SoftGrid application management platform utilizes a
patent-pending technology called
SystemGuard™ which runs applications inside a protective
run-time "sandbox." Applications reside on the network but
execute locally with all key functionality and response times.
This enables any application--including multiple versions of
the same application -- to run on any desktop or server
side-by-side without conflict. It also enables applications
that couldn't previously run in Terminal Server environments
to easily do so.
SoftGrid also provides instant, on-demand deployment of any
application to
Windows desktops and
MetaFrame servers, eliminating the need to pre-populate
these computers with applications. SoftGrid does this by
deploying applications from the SoftGrid Virtual Application
Server™ to both desktops and MetaFrame servers. SoftGridÕs
virtualization and real-time deployment enhance enterprise IT
environments while
saving IT organizations tremendous capital costs and
administration time, and freeing IT staff to work on more
strategic projects.
