DataCore Software
Partners With Emergent OnLine to Extend Virtualization and
VMware Solution Focus
Partnership Provides Emergent OnLine Customers a
Cost-effective Way to 'Go Virtual' for Data Storage Networking
Infrastructures
FORT LAUDERDALE -
August 2, 2005 — DataCore Software today announced
that it has formed a new partnership with Emergent
OnLine, a Value-Added Reseller (VAR) covering Virginia
and the metropolitan Washington D.C. area. Emergent is a
leading virtual infrastructure solution provider, having
earned the highest levels of technical certifications
from VMware, Microsoft, Provision Networks, Citrix, and
DataCore Software. Virtual infrastructure has provided
an entirely new area for Emergent OnLine to develop
business and this is where the reseller now sees the
majority of its new sales growth. After being as
successful as they were with Citrix, Emergent OnLine
sought to repeat the same success via VMware. But they
also wanted to deliver additional value by offering a
compelling advantage for storage.
"We have been very successful in selling VMware, but we
knew we had a hole in our virtual storage story," said
Paul Ghostine, Co-Founder and CEO, Emergent OnLine. "By
bringing DataCore into the picture, we are able to be
more successful selling VMware since we provide users
with a far more complete solution for server and storage
consolidation. It's the affordable way to add
flexibility to servers and disks, and we are now able to
offer the next level of 'going virtual' as part of our
general mission in being a virtual infrastructure
provider."
"Emergent OnLine has grown their user base by providing
cost-effective infrastructure solutions that optimize
utilization and deliver the flexibility to rapidly
respond to changes, which is what they already do with
VMware and Citrix," said George Teixeira, CEO, DataCore
Software. "DataCore gives them the same model applied to
storage. It's the logical next step in building flexible
infrastructures that go beyond servers to deal with
rampant data storage growth. Emergent adds tremendous
value in technical expertise, consulting and service,
since they understand software and the new models and
methods that can greatly improve network services to
users."
Emergent OnLine focuses on delivering virtual
infrastructure solutions to their customers; however,
historically the storage piece was not a well-developed
area of Emergent's expertise. Emergent has seen
significant growth in its VMware business, which has
driven the need for more flexible disk storage
solutions. In most cases, customers had to install a
costly storage area network (SAN) to ease the allocation
of disks to servers. Emergent sought to address the user
need for an affordable SAN solution since serving and
deploying disks had become as critical as servers.
Whereas Emergent has historically sold traditional
storage arrays and SANs in conjunction with the sale of
VMware, it found that DataCore's products met the new
requirements demanded by their user base: lower cost,
full storage networking services and the flexibility to
respond rapidly by serving storage where needed and when
needed. DataCore fundamentally does to disk storage what
VMware does to servers - that is, increase utilization
and simplify deployments. DataCore does so while
providing the lowest cost SAN solution in the
marketplace.
The DataCore Software relationship began with Emergent
targeting small-to-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with
DataCore's lower cost SANmelody product and the
three-month old partnership has already resulted in
multiple sales to date. More recent opportunities
uncovered by Emergent OnLine have also opened up the
need for DataCore's higher-end SANsymphony product.
The bottom-line for customers is that the smaller and
medium-sized enterprises that Emergent OnLine sells to
are now capable of deploying the types of technologies
that in the past were only available to larger
enterprises. The DataCore Software-Emergent OnLine
partnership delivers virtual infrastructure, including
disaster recovery and business continuance, to the SME
world. Moreover, smaller enterprises can utilize these
technologies to realize the benefits of consolidation,
including cost-savings associated with administering a
consolidated environment whereby both hardware support
costs and software licensing fees are reduced.
"The sale of VMware with associated services is
significantly lower in overall cost when combined with
DataCore Software for the storage piece as opposed to
traditional storage solutions, which lack the needed
flexibility and openness," said Ghostine. "Because
VMware and DataCore both take a hardware independent
approach, this allows users to maximize their hardware
purchases and resources over a long period of time."
