Emergent Launches ASP
Business Unit Targeting Small & Medium Size Businesses -
Emergent OnLine
Leading Citrix
Solutions Provider To Capitalize on Server-Based Computing
Expertise and Strategic Partnerships to Become the First Total
Solutions Provider
Reston, VA November 10, 1999
Emergent Technologies Inc., the leading Citrix (Nasdaq: CTXS)
Solutions Provider in the nation's capital, announced today
the formation of its Application Service Provider business
unit. Emergent will also formally change its name to Emergent
OnLine (EOL), aligning with its long-term corporate strategy.
"The plans have been in the works for
almost two years," said Peter Ghostine, co-founder & CTO of
Emergent, "We wanted to make sure that every aspect of the
total solution is covered, tested and functional. This
includes essential features such as security, redundancy,
disaster recovery, network and application health monitoring,
accounting, and service level guarantees."
"Not only is this a natural extension
of our business," said Paul Ghostine, co-founder & CEO of
Emergent, "it is a strategic move for the company to
capitalize on our in-house expertise in server-based
computing, application management and deployment, and virtual
private networking. Our rich portfolio of strategic
partnerships among consulting firms enables us to offer
clients the first Total Solution Provider service to date."
"We have seen several ASPs go out early
and fumble," added Ghostine. "Rather than test services with
live customers, we have gone through painstaking testing
in-house for our own applications in order to fully integrate
the various system functions. According to Dataquest, the ASP
opportunity will rapidly reach $22 Billion by 2003 - EOL is a
strong contender to capture a significant portion of this
growing market. "
"Our clients have been increasingly
demanding such services," said Patrick Minoughan, Program
Manager for EG&G Services, the premier provider of information
services for government and commercial customers. EOL’s ASP
services now enable us to jointly meet every aspect of our
customer’s needs from simple productivity applications, to
complex customized application outsourcing. This offering is
unique in its nature as it incorporates every aspect of
application outsourcing including hosting, management,
support, connectivity, and comprehensive security services."
Emergent’s network infrastructure is
powered by Verio (Nasdaq: VRIO), the world’s largest
domain-based web-hosting ISP. Capitalizing on Verio’s Tier 1
Cisco-powered network, over a dozen co-location data centers,
over 200 POPs, 550 local access numbers, and a wide range of
commercial-strength connectivity solutions, Emergent is able
to offer best-of-breed turnkey solutions to its clients.
Founded in 1990, Emergent provides a
variety of strategic solutions aimed at enabling its clients
to leverage the use of best of breed technologies, resulting
in an increased focus on core competencies for its clients.
Providing its consultative integration, application hosting
and mangement, and implementation services to such
